Morf Big Deal in Phoenix: Hits for Cycle
Thursday, June 8th , 2084
Some days, a great game just isn't enough.
Billy Morf of the Phoenix Thunderbirds found that out the hard way. Morf had a great day at the plate, pounding out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and hitting for the cycle, but watched the Kansas City Athletics win the game, 5-4.
"It is a frustrating feeling to know you did so much and still lost," the 28-year-old right fielder said later. "But it is a feeling you have to get used to if you want to play baseball for very long. It just happens."
Morf had 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run, as well as 1 RBI and 2 runs scored in the contest.
Billy Morf doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Chase Kessler in the 9th.
Morf has a .230 average and a .327 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 51 hits, 8 home runs and driven in 22 runs.
