The St. Louis Gaedels and San Diego Destroyers put on quite a show.

Starting pitcher Ben Ford pitched well enough to help the St. Louis Gaedels beat the San Diego Destroyers, 6-3. Mike Gonzales earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 2-2. Dave Valenzuela, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Tatsuma Matsuura to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gaedels on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Gaedels manager Mak Dolnick.

The Gaedels sport a record of 24-42.
