Minneapolis Squanders Big Game by Arakawa
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Kansas City Athletics and Minneapolis Vikings.
Gentaro Arakawa had a good game, but he could not keep the Minneapolis Vikings from falling, 9-6, to the Kansas City Athletics at Minneapolis Grounds. The Minneapolis first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 in the loss. Kansas City starter Alex Laso was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-4. Mark Curry earned save number 3.
In the top of the fourth, Kansas City second baseman Chris Goudie had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and no one out, Goudie stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-4, Kansas City. For the game, he was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan.
Minneapolis has now lost 4 in a row.
