The Kansas City Athletics, behind a great outing from Al Joly, who is tied for 6th in the WC with a 1.05 WHIP, defeated the Minneapolis Vikings, 3-1, at Ballpark of Missouri. The victory gives Kansas City a record of 35-30.

Right Fielder Hisatoshi Morita made an impact for Kansas City, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Frank Macias in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Morita went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle. "It's usually not just one thing."
