The Houston Aquas could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Slider Brooks into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Friars prevailed, 4-3. Brooks threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever John Smallwood picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Danny Mathews, who finished 2nd in the WC in wins with 16 in 2081, took the loss. The third-place Friars bumped their record to 31-34.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Hank Snook came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Houston pitcher Danny Mathews, he hit a 1-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 4-3.

"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Snook told the San Francisco Daily News.
