6-4 Win Makes It 7 Straight for Phantoms

Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Chicago Phantoms and Seattle Arrows.
No one was more impactful than Luis Cortes in the 6-4 Chicago win over Seattle. Cortes, who is on pace to hit 48 home runs this season, was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Jake Orthman, who is tied for 7th in the WC in innings pitched with 78.0, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Simone Banatoni picked up the save, his 1st.
Cortes contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-0, Cortes took a sinker from Felipe Diaz and stroked the home run to center. His 19th home run of the season allowed the Phantoms to leap in front, 4-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Cortes told the Chicago Daily News.
Chicago is now 35-29.
