Ravens Curb Destroyers, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Yellowknife Ravens and the San Diego Destroyers, Will Spangenberg, who finished 5th in the WC in wins with 16 last year, was the difference-maker. The Yellowknife right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Yellowknife reliever Xiang-ling Khoo was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Gary Banks took the loss. The Ravens lead the Western Conference Jonas Division by 5½ games.
The Ravens got a big at-bat from first baseman Jeremy Curzon. For the game, Curzon went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 15th double of the season gave Yellowknife a 2-1 lead.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Spangenberg.
