Kings Score Late, Topple Senators, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring clash between Baltimore and Washington, pitcher Jordan Oliva was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Kings win. Oliva, now 4-5, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Kings improved to 32-32.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of Koji Chinea to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kings on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Baltimore manager Brad Carpenter said.
