The Tucson Toros defeated the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 3-2, in Western Conference action at Legednary Park. Tucson pitcher Feng Shuai had a standout performance. In 6.2 innings, Shuai surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Tucson goes to 29-34, Phoenix to 20-44.

Jose Pedroza, who finished 4th in the WC in wins above replacement with 6.2 in 2080, had a direct impact on the outcome. Pedroza contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Tucson up, 3-2.

"The other side played a good game," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "You tip your cap to them."
