Flores, Twins Scald Senators, 16-0
|
The Cincinnati Twins soundly defeated the Washington Senators, 16-0, at The ESPN Zone, with designated hitter Willie Flores a major reason why. He was 3-5 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Cincinnati. The misery never ends for the Senators, who've lost 10 in a row.
Cincinnati used the clutch hitting of Cristovão Alvelo to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Twins the lead, 2-0. For the game, Alvelo had 2 singles and 1 double in 6 at-bats.
Said losing manager Josh Cooan: "They knocked the snot out of us."
