Alaska 6-4 Losers to Glaciers
|
The Denver Glaciers topped the Alaska Kodiaks, 6-4, at Mountain Dew Park. Denver third baseman Alexjandria Leija was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win was credited to fireballing right-hander Olaf Bax in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Eddie Izurieta took the loss. The 'W' lifts Denver's record to 34-29.
The Glaciers got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Edgar Malhado. For the game, Malhado went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Denver a 5-4 lead.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Leija said. "That's why you play the game."
