Garbie slugs 2 home runs to Light Rangers Fuse
|
Buffalo catcher Merlin Garbie helped his team beat the Philadelphia Spectres, 10-1. Garbie, who is tied for 10th in the EC with a .316 batting average, went 3 for 5 for the Rangers. Jose Nereida picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-1 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 5 in 6 innings, while yielding 1 run. The first-place Rangers bumped their record to 40-22.
With Buffalo trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Garbie hit a cutter from Tony Madena for a 2-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 2-1.
"We can't expect to win," said Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff, "when we play like that."
