Cyclones Rally Late to Nip Avispas
|
The Miami Cyclones picked up a win at Estadio Guillermón Moncada, downing the Santiago Avispas, 2-1. On the mound for Miami was left-hander Billy Lorsung, who played a pivotal role in the win. Lorsung yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-4. The save went to Nestor Fajardo, his 7th this season.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Kevin Howard? The 26-year old catcher Howard stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Miami up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Howard.
Miami is 4th in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division with a record of 26-35.
