Stars Rally Late to Clip Minneapolis
The Los Angeles Stars had to overcome a fine effort from Minneapolis pitcher Hendi Cooper to win, 8-7, at Stars Ballpark. Cooper went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The win belonged to Dave Mills in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Kwang-sik Nho took the loss for Minneapolis. The third-place Stars now have a record of 28-34.

Had Whip Lund not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Lund hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Stars.

Lund said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
