Friars Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Aquas, 4-2
Tesoro Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Houston Aquas. The contest featured a prime matchup between Filiberto Ciriaco of the visiting San Francisco Friars and Ron Gelsomino of the Aquas. The final score was 4-2, the Friars getting the win. Ron Gelsomino turned in the best performance. O-min Che earned save number 1 this season.

San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Bryce Gekas to seal the deal. The center fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Friars on top, 3-2. For the game, Gekas had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gekas told the San Francisco Daily News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
