Kansas City Drops Another One, 5-4
Kansas City got a terrific game from right fielder Harold Pond. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to St. Louis, 5-4. Pond went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Phil Palgani earned the save for St. Louis, his 3rd of the year. The losses continue to add up for Kansas City, having now dropped 9 straight.

Luke Zakharov, who finished 4th in the EC in home runs with 30 in 2084, took Kansas City hurler Matt McMillan deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Gaedels on top, 5-4. In all, Zakharov had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
