Kings Come Back Late to Top Twins, 6-5
|
The Baltimore Kings did just enough to sneak past the Cincinnati Twins, 6-5, at AT&T Park. Baltimore pitcher Victor Franco, in particular, had a standout performance. Baltimore reliever Kyohei Nishimoto picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Macario Mendoza absorbed the loss. Juan Colleano recorded his 9th save for Baltimore.
Had Pedro Vido not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Vido hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Kings.
"This is a very good team," said Franco. "We have the chance to do something special."
The first-place Kings go to 40-19.
