Arrows Claim 7-5 Triumph
|
The Seattle Arrows weathered an outstanding game by San Diego third baseman Jon Sitterley to topple the Destroyers, 7-5. Sitterley was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Victor Romero was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was Ricardo Alas. Justin Blankenhorn sewed up the save, his 1st.
Caguas, Puerto Rico-born Danny Nieto came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Arrows trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Seattle on top.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Seattle manager Dr. Jay Siber.
The third-place Arrows now sit at 30-29.
