Cyclones Down Avispas, 8-5
|
The Miami Cyclones defeated the Santiago Avispas, 8-5, in 11 innings. Doing his part was right fielder Todd Kozuch, who was 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3. Miami reliever Nestor Fajardo picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Mario Carrisalez was saddled with the loss. Sergej van Anrooij picked up the save, his 1st.
Nelson Aragon drew 1 walk for Miami. The 24-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the 11th. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Chris Knarr. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"Exciting game to play in," said Kozuch. "Getting the win makes it even better."
Miami has a record of 5-1.
