Destroyers Win, 7-5, Versus Seattle
|
The San Diego Destroyers overcame a pretty good performance by Seattle right fielder Etsuji Obata, beating the Arrows, 7-5, at Seaward Stadium. Obata was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Kostin snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-0 on the season. Midori Murakami suffered the loss. At 25-34, the Destroyers find themselves in 4th place in the Western Conference Jonas Division.
San Diego took a 6-5 lead on Rusney Bravo's 1st triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Bravo hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Seattle pitcher Midori Murakami visibly frustrated.
Despite the victory, Bravo was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
