Wolves Drop to .500 After 9-2 Loss to Thunderbirds
|
Najib Tawfiq led Phoenix to a win over Vancouver. The final score was 9-2. Tawfiq collected 2 runs batted in, while going 3 for 4 at the plate. The center fielder also scored 3 times. John Intriago claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 1-1. With the win, Phoenix goes to 19-40, while the Wolves fall to 29-29.
Phoenix went up, 4-1, on Billy Morf's 14th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Morf hit in the top of the seventh, made Vancouver pitcher Jarrod Beckman grimace.
Morf told a Phoenix Times reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
