Phantoms Handled by Houston, 5-3
|
Houston and Chicago got after it at Tesoro Stadium.
Houston Aquas starter Yadisniel Saez pitched a strong game against the Chicago Phantoms at Tesoro Stadium, leading the Aquas to victory, 5-3. Saez, now 8-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Getting the save was Danny Mathews, his 7th.
The Phantoms had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Aquas going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old second baseman Al Anzaldua came to the plate. Anzaldua hit a run-scoring triple on a 1-0 cutter from Chicago hurler Trevor Laverick. It was Anzaldua's 1st triple of the year.
"Yadisniel's as tough as he is talented," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
Houston is now 33-25, Chicago 32-26.
