Santiago Wins Conference Championship
|
The excitement in Santiago is palpable as the local club has advanced through the Conference Championship.
The Santiago Avispas downed the Baltimore Kings 6-4 tonight at AT&T Park, to take the series 4-2.
"Things are going to get crazy in Santiago for the League Championship. The fans are going to be behind us 100 percent, we know that," said Daichi Sakai, who earned MVP honors.
"There's a lot of motivation in our clubhouse right now to make sure we give them something to cheer about."
For the series, Sakai hit .524 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 11 hits, 3 home runs, 9 RBI and scored 7 runs.
The Santiago Avispas will play against the Chicago Phantoms in the next round. Chicago won their series against the Kansas City Athletics 4 games to 1. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes.
