Conference Championship Game 1 Victory for Eschmann and Santiago
|
The Santiago Avispas powered past the visiting Baltimore Kings, 3-2, in the opener of the Conference Championship at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. Santiago starting pitcher Beau Eschmann threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Avispas now lead the series 1-0.
Daichi Sakai hit a 2-run triple off Carl Rodda in the bottom of the second, which put the Avispas in front, 2-0. Sakai had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 3.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Brad Carpenter.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Estadio Guillermón Moncada in Santiago de Cuba.
