The Miami Cyclones rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Ed Rice to a win, beating the Boston Greens, 6-1, at Arrington Park. Rice, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. The setback makes Boston 25-31.

Miami used a well-timed hit by Omar Monge to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cyclones ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Monge told the Miami Daily.
