Dragons Suffer Blowout Loss to Kodiaks
|
The Portland Dragons took it on the chin, losing, 11-1, to the Alaska Kodiaks. Stuart Stephenson, who finished 5th in the EC in innings pitched with 215.0 in 2078, pitched a strong game for Alaska. Stephenson, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. With this game in the books, Alaska is 30-26, Portland 27-30.
Alaska third baseman Alderaan Pike contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 61st hit of the season and put the Kodiaks ahead, 3-0.
"The Kodiaks definitely had our number," said Portland manager Greg Carpenter.
