Browns Collect 3-1 Win Over Harfangs
|
The Brooklyn Browns downed the Montreal Harfangs, 3-1, at Mount Royal Park. Stellar pitching by Michel Verde had a lot to do with it. The left-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Brooklyn reliever Norman Bos picked up the win to move to 2-3. Tae-cho Kwack suffered the loss. The Browns improved their record to 28-28 by beating Montreal.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Shichinosuke Sakai? The 27-year old catcher Sakai stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Brooklyn up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Exciting game to play in," said Sakai. "Getting the win makes it even better."
