Conference Championship Game 1 Victory for Yamamoto and Alaska
The Alaska Kodiaks started the Conference Championship in style, downing the visiting Las Vegas Aces at Tundradome by a score of 6-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Kodiaks right-hander Taisei Yamamoto threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball.

Yamamoto, a native of Toyohashi, Japan, was dealing all game. He kept Las Vegas hitters off-balance, while giving the Kodiaks 6.1 quality innings. Yamamoto threw 86 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 7.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Alaska manager Alex King said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tundradome in Kodiak Station.
