Almost There: Chicago On Cusp of DS Triumph After 2-0 Win

When he got to Chicago, Jake Orthman was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Divisional Series.
The 22-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the host Portland Dragons, 2-0, in a remarkable performance at Portland Park. With the win, the Phantoms took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
The Phantoms liked what they saw from Orthman. The 22-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Dragons to no runs on 5 hits over 9 innings, and striking out 9.
"There's nothing like the postseason," said Orthman, "to ramp up the pressure."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Foster Field in Chicago.
