Metropolitanos Beat Spectres, 6-3
|
Havana pitcher Benito Cossutta did his part in helping his team beat the Philadelphia Spectres, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Cossutta yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-3. Josh Trejo got the save, the 12th for him this season.
The Metropolitanos got a big at-bat from second baseman Carlos Garza. For the game, Garza went 2-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Havana a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," Garza said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
The setback makes Philadelphia 28-26.
