Thunderbirds Slip Past Los Angeles, 3-2
|
The Thunderbirds grabbed a win, 3-2, at Legednary Park, overcoming a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Hector Bazaldua. Bazaldua went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The third-place Thunderbirds bumped their record to 25-29.
Taiji Taira was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Thunderbirds catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers.
