Downward Spiral Continues for Phoenix
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Ernesto Alvarez, but the Tucson Toros still won the game, 4-2. Alvarez threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Cody Sosnowski got the save, the 11th for him this season. The losses continue to mount for Phoenix, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
Tucson took a 4-2 lead on Mario Flores's 6th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Flores hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Phoenix pitcher Forbes Kopecky visibly frustrated.
"I know everybody in here is putting in the work," said Phoenix manager Joe Busch. "It's just not paying off."
