Santiago pitcher Aaron Ranks did his part in helping his team defeat the Brooklyn Browns, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Chris Knarr recorded his 1st save for Santiago. The win puts Santiago at 4-1.
The Avispas got a big at-bat from designated hitter Yem Batista. For the game, Batista went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Santiago a 2-1 lead.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Avispas manager Jacob Pauly. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
