Friars Capture Close Win
|
The Friars earned a hard-fought, 5-4 win in 14 innings at Staples Field. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from San Diego pitcher Travis Sasson. Sasson went 5 innings and allowed no runs. San Francisco reliever Gwang-soo Pae got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Ricardo Alas was tagged with the loss. At 24-29, the Friars find themselves in 4th place in the Western Conference Felipe Solorzo Division.
The Friars got a clutch hit from second baseman Bryce Gekas. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Friars.
"We battled our tails off to get this win," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
