Aces Absorb 6-3 Home Loss
|
The Alaska Kodiaks topped the Las Vegas Aces, 6-3, in Western Conference action at Western Coliseum. The game was highlighted by the performance of Alaska right fielder Tillmam Velado. Will Spangenberg got the win, improving to 5-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The third-place Aces dropped to 24-29.
Velado contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Alaska in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-0, Velado took a fastball from Tae-sang Shinn and stroked the home run to left. His 20th home run of the season allowed the Kodiaks to leap in front, 4-3.
"Good, gritty kind of win," said Kodiaks manager Alex King.
