Vikings Rack Up 7-3 Win Versus St. Louis
|
The Minneapolis Vikings topped the St. Louis Gaedels, 7-3, in Western Conference action at Minneapolis Grounds. The game was highlighted by the performance of Minneapolis pitcher Erik Garcia. Minneapolis is now 27-25, St. Louis 25-26.
Gentaro Arakawa had a big 2-run double for the Vikings in the bottom of the second inning. With Minneapolis leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Steve Pohlman and swatted a double to center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Vikings ahead, 5-2.
"We didn't play well enough to win," said St. Louis skipper Mak Dolnick.
