The Kansas City Athletics topped the San Francisco Friars, 4-1, with designated hitter Kamakana Aniani playing a big role. Aniani went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Athletics in the win. Gerald Tanton earned the win to go to 6-3. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. The third-place Athletics improved to 30-22.

Aniani had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Kiyohiro Kaneshiro, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Athletics a 2-1 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Aniani.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Kansas City manager Joe Monagle.
