Senators Need Extra Frames to Get Past Browns
|
The Washington Senators faced a tough opponent in Brooklyn pitcher Matt Pontius, but found a way to pull out the victory at The ESPN Zone by a final score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Pontius went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Washington now sits at 80-82, while Brooklyn falls to 75-87.
Washington got a game-changing hit from Derek Jefferson. The third baseman blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Jefferson.
