Stars Lose Versus Vancouver, 4-1
|
Vancouver pitcher Jose Madrid had a large part in his team subduing the Los Angeles Stars, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Madrid, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Cody Goings earned the save for Vancouver, his 5th of the year.
Vancouver took the lead, 4-1, on Shigenobu Shimamoto's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Los Angeles pitcher Raul Alcaraz in the top of the eighth.
"I like what I saw today," said Vancouver manager Zach Meinen, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Wolves move to 27-24 with the win, while the Stars drop to 30-21.
