Destroyers Knock Off Kodiaks, 6-2
|
San Diego picked up a win at Seaward Stadium, bumping off the Alaska Kodiaks, 6-2. Pitcher Tony Anaya was a major reason the Destroyers emerged victorious. The winning pitcher was Anaya, now 12-10. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. The Destroyers now have a record of 82-77 with the win over Alaska.
Arno Bachman had a big bases-clearing double for the Destroyers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With San Diego leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Zamora and swatted a double to center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Destroyers ahead, 5-1.
"We had a nice day," said San Diego skipper Steve Alstadt.
