Greens Best Titans in Pitching Duel
|
Fans watched the Boston Greens and the New York Titans fight to the finish.
In a low-scoring affair between the Boston Greens and the New York Titans, pitcher Javy Alejo was the difference between victory and defeat. The Boston right-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Greens win. Mark Mehringer closed it out for Boston, earning his 3rd save.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Kevin Shouse to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Greens ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Shouse told the Boston Observer.
Boston is now 76-82. New York is 80-78.
