Win Lifts Kings to 83-75
|
Baltimore beat Washington in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Washington Senators got a superb performance from pitcher Dominic Hogg, but the Baltimore Kings still won the game, 4-3. Hogg threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Picking up the win was Vito Pels. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The left--hander struck out 3 and walked 2. Arturo Panameno was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Robbie Klabunde was at the plate when Baltimore scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Kings to go in front, 4-3.
Baltimore manager Andrew Schweizer was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
With the win, Baltimore goes to 83-75, while the Senators fall to 78-80.
