Athletics Hand Phoenix 12-3 Loss
The Kansas City Athletics met little resistance from the Phoenix Thunderbirds, beating them, 12-3, at Ballpark of Missouri. Hisatoshi Morita led the way. He went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Kansas City. Kansas City reliever Roberto Patino picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Ernesto Alvarez absorbed the loss. The first-place Athletics, at 94-64, lead the Western Conference Mike Stump Division by 2 games.

With Kansas City leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Morita hit a forkball from Ernesto Alvarez for a bases-clearing double. It was his 45th double of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 5-0.

"We were able to put some good swings on some pitches," Morita told the Kansas City Citizen.
