Starting pitcher Taxi Sabala was a major factor in the 2-0 Tucson Toros triumph over the Phoenix Thunderbirds. The Toros now own a record of 69-88.

The Toros got a big at-bat from right fielder Etsuji Obata. For the game, Obata went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 37th double of the season gave Tucson a 2-0 lead.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes. "That's what Taxi is right now."
