Jia Hurls No-Hitter
|
The Washington Senators relied on no-hit stuff from starter Kai-xi Jia to defeat the New York Titans, 2-0, at The ESPN Zone.
"It's quite a thrill," Jia told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the Eastern Conference records, he stopped New York cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 10 of the 30 batters he faced.
Washington manager Nate Strauman was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Jia "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
His record this season is 13-13 in 34 starts and Jia has a 3.46 ERA.
