|
The Havana Metropolitanos beat the Brooklyn Browns, 8-4, in 11 innings. Havana third baseman Heriberto Lopez, in particular, had a fine performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The Metropolitanos saw their record improve to 21-30.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Carlos Garza came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Jorge Gamez, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Havana on top, 5-4.
In postgame comments, Lopez said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
