Losing Trend Continues for Miami
|
Miami left fielder Cody Daniels had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Santiago at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. Daniels went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jimmy Biair was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Divino Aljeroz got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances.
Daichi Sakai had a big 2-run home run for the Avispas in the bottom of the second inning. With Santiago leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Nestor Fajardo, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2078 draft, and punished it. The result was his 23rd home run of the season, which put the Avispas on top, 5-1.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Chris Stephan told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
This loss makes it 6 in a row for Miami.
