Santiago left fielder Yem Batista played a vital role in his team's 5-4 conquest of Montreal. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Santiago. The winner was Mario Carrisalez, who threw 93 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 4 hits. With the win, the Avispas have a record of 87-66.
Mayumi Watanabe went 1-4 for Santiago. The 28-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jordan Oliva. It was his 38th RBI of the season.
