Titans Stumble, Lose 6-2 to Toros
|
The Tucson Toros beat the New York Titans by a score of 6-2. Tucson shortstop Kenny Sturdivant deserved the lion's share of the credit. Sturdivant went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Toros. Tucson reliever Edwin Castaneda got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Lao Lum was tagged with the loss. The Toros improved their record to 25-24 with the win over New York.
Bonaventure Moser had a big 2-run double for the Toros in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tucson leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Zounes Habyarimana and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Toros ahead, 5-1.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said New York skipper Nate Beckman.
