Aquas Make It 4 Straight with 6-2 Win
|
The Houston Aquas got a stellar performance from pitcher Ron Gelsomino, who handcuffed the Seattle offense en route to a win, 6-2, at Tesoro Stadium. The winner was Gelsomino. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Danny Mathews. The first-place Aquas have won 4 straight.
Al Anzaldua had a big 3-run home run for the Aquas in the bottom of the second inning. With Houston trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a curveball from Danny Mathews, who led the WC in strikeouts with 207 in 2081, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Aquas on top, 3-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
