Spectres Lose to Avispas, 6-2
|
The Santiago Avispas knocked off the Philadelphia Spectres, 6-2, in Eastern Conference action at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. Santiago pitcher and Beetzsee, Germany, native Julius Miller had an outstanding performance. Miller picked up the win for Santiago, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 8-2. The Avispas now own a record of 33-14.
David Higby had a big 2-run double for the Avispas in the bottom of the first inning. With Santiago leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Uno Urquidez and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Avispas ahead, 3-0.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Miller. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
